About
Over 40 Years of Experience
Born in the Bronx, New York, but raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey since age seven, Howard Teitelbaum has been a practicing attorney for over 40 years, with a wealth of trial experience in civil, criminal, and municipal court matters. He presently resides in both Monmouth County and Ocean County with his wife Sandra and three beautiful daughters.
Mr. Teitelbaum was an excellent student and highly regarded athlete in high school. Numerous colleges recruited him for wrestling, and ultimately he attended the University of Connecticut and, subsequently, Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey.
After his yearlong clerkship with Judge Alterman of Passaic County and one year with a Jersey City law firm, Mr. Teitelbaum opened his practice in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
In order to get the necessary experience to properly advocate, he became a pool attorney for the public defender’s office. When the public defender’s office would have a conflict of interest due to multiple defendants, one defendant would then be assigned to the pool attorneys. Of his first dozen or so pooled or retained cases, nearly all resulted in acquittals.
Over the ensuing years, Mr. Teitelbaum has been bestowed with enumerable awards for his legal, charitable, and civic work. As a younger attorney, Mr. Teitelbaum tried what was then commonly called a “whiplash case,” which resulted in what was believed to be the third highest whiplash injury award at the time.
Throughout the years, Mr. Teitelbaum has received numerous settlements and jury verdicts of significance, and within recent memory, was able to structure a settlement on a dog bite case of over one million dollars, believed to be the highest dog bite settlement in the history of New Jersey.
